2008 Have A Heart Ball
to benefit the American Heart Association

“The Alliance for a Healthier Generation can help turn young people’s lives around and give them
hope for a healthier future.”

- President Clinton -

In May 2005, the American Heart Association and the William J. Clinton Foundation have formed
the Alliance for a Healthier Generation (AHG) that addresses the childhood obesity problem on several fronts.

Learn and Live! That’s the American Heart Association’s rallying cry in communities

throughout America. We are spreading knowledge to help you and those you love live longer, stronger,
healthier lives. All people are precious, but none so much as our children.

They deserve everything we can do to offer them the best opportunities for healthy living.

Heart-related birth defects, alarming increases in childhood obesity, and teaching kids about the dangers of
smoking are just a few of our initiatives. But to continue supporting education and research – and advocating
for policies that affect where our children live, learn and play – we need your help.

For the first time in American history, today’s generation of children could live shorter lives than their
parents.  The cause is obesity. More than 11 million children and adolescents (16%) in the United States
are overweight or obese. We must help our children make better food choices and become more
physically active.
